Ingredients

Servings:6
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 1 tablespoon Cachaça (or white vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil (for dough)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Green olives, chopped
  • 2 units Hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • 1 quart Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Create a well and add warm water, cachaça, and 1 tablespoon of oil.

  2. 2

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Wrap in plastic and rest for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

While dough rests, brown the ground beef in a skillet with onions and garlic until fully cooked.

  4. 4

Stir in olives, green onions, and chopped hard-boiled eggs into the beef mixture; season with salt and pepper, then let cool completely.

  5. 5

Roll out the dough very thin (about 1/16 inch) using a rolling pin or pasta machine, then cut into rectangles.

  6. 6

Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each rectangle, fold over, and seal the edges tightly with a fork.

  7. 7

Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (180°C) and fry the pastéis until golden brown and bubbly on both sides.

  8. 8

Drain on paper towels and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
