Ingredients
- 6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- 1 cup Old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 0.75 cup Light brown sugar, packed
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 0.25 teaspoon Baking powder
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x9 inch baking dish.
- 2
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
- 3
Spread the apple mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
- 4
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
- 5
Add the cold cubed butter to the oat mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work it in until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- 6
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering them completely.
- 7
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before serving warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.
