Ingredients

  • 6 large Granny Smith Apples
  • 100 grams Unsalted Butter
  • 150 grams Granulated Sugar
  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cinnamon(optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. 2

Peel, core, and quarter the apples. Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.

  3. 3

In a 9-inch oven-proof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the melted butter.

  4. 4

Cook the sugar and butter without stirring for about 5-7 minutes until it turns into a deep amber caramel.

  5. 5

Arrange the apple quarters tightly in the skillet, rounded side down, in a circular pattern.

  6. 6

Cook the apples in the caramel for 10-12 minutes until they start to soften slightly.

  7. 7

Roll out the puff pastry and cut a circle slightly larger than your skillet. Place the pastry over the apples, tucking the edges down into the sides of the pan.

  8. 8

Bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.

  9. 9

Let the tart cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a large serving plate while still warm.
