Ingredients

Servings:6
  • 1 pound Ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 pound Pork sausage
  • 1 1/2 cups Long-grain white rice, uncooked
  • 3 cups Beef broth
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 large Green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 stalks Celery, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley, chopped(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

Add the ground beef and pork sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and cooked through.

  3. 3

Stir in the onion, bell pepper, and celery (the holy trinity) and cook for 5 minutes until vegetables are soft.

  4. 4

Add the minced garlic and Cajun seasoning, stirring for 1 minute until fragrant.

  5. 5

Pour in the uncooked rice and stir for 2 minutes to lightly toast the grains and coat them in the meat drippings.

  6. 6

Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing the mixture to a boil.

  7. 7

Reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.

  8. 8

Remove from heat, let stand covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork and garnish with parsley.
