Ingredients
- 4 large Sweet potatoes (peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch rounds)
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup Light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 cups Miniature marshmallows(optional)
- 2 tablespoons Orange juice

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.

Layer the sliced sweet potatoes evenly in the prepared baking dish, overlapping them slightly.

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and orange juice.

Whisk the sauce constantly until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture begins to bubble slightly, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the hot butter and sugar mixture evenly over the sweet potatoes, ensuring every slice is coated.

Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Remove the foil, baste the potatoes with the syrup from the bottom of the dish, and bake uncovered for another 15-20 minutes until the syrup is thick and potatoes are tender.

If using marshmallows, sprinkle them over the top during the last 5 minutes of baking until toasted and golden brown.
