Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Beef short ribs, flanken-style
  • 0.5 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup Asian pear, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 stalks Green onions, chopped(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse the short ribs in cold water to remove any bone fragments and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, grated pear, garlic, sesame oil, ginger, and black pepper.

  3. 3

Place the ribs in a large gallon-sized sealable bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring all pieces are well-coated.

  4. 4

Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum tenderness.

  5. 5

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  6. 6

Remove the ribs from the marinade and grill for 3 to 5 minutes per side, or until charred and cooked through.

  7. 7

Garnish with chopped green onions and serve with steamed rice and kimchi.
