Ingredients

Servings:6
  • 4 pieces Cube steaks (beef)
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Dry BBQ rib rub
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 piece Large egg
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup Sweet BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. 1

Pat the cube steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, BBQ rib rub, and garlic powder until well combined.

  3. 3

In a second shallow bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together to create the wet wash.

  4. 4

Dredge each steak first in the flour mixture, then dip into the buttermilk mixture, and finally back into the flour for a thick coating.

  5. 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches approximately 350 degrees F.

  6. 6

Carefully place steaks in the hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes per side until the breading is deep golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

Remove steaks from the pan and let them drain on a wire rack or paper towels for 2 minutes.

  8. 8

Drizzle the warm sweet BBQ sauce over the top of each steak before serving.
